Trackdle

Privacy policy

Last updated 27th August 2026

Trackdle is a small, unofficial fan project. There are no accounts and nothing to sign in to, so there is very little about you for us to hold. This page explains what the game keeps on your device, what it sends back to us, and what our host records along the way.

What stays on your device

The game saves your guesses and your progress in the current round to your browser's local storage. That is what lets you reload the page, or come back later in the day, without losing the attempts you have already used.

This data belongs to your browser. It is not an account, it is not tied to your name, and it does not leave your device except as described below.

What the game sends

To load a puzzle, the game asks our server for that day's track. Which day it asks for comes from your device's timezone, so the request tells us your local calendar date and nothing more about you.

When you finish a game, the game sends us an anonymous record of how it went: which puzzle it was, whether you got it, how many guesses you used, and which tracks you guessed. There is no name, account, or identifier attached to it, and nothing in it that we could trace back to you.

We use those records for one thing: seeing which daily tracks turn out too easy or too hard, so the puzzles get better.

What our host records

The site is hosted on Netlify, and like any web host it keeps standard server logs of requests it serves. Those logs include IP addresses, browser user agent strings, and which pages were requested. They exist to keep the site up and secure, and to let us work out whether a problem is specific to a particular browser or device.

We do not combine these logs with the anonymous game records above, and neither one identifies you on its own.

What we don't do

Trackdle sets no cookies. It loads no analytics product, no advertising, and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. There are no adverts on the site, so there is no ad network to share anything with.

We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal detail, and we do not sell or rent information about you to anyone.

Sharing

The only third party involved in running the site is Netlify, our host. Beyond that, we would disclose information only if we were legally required to, or if the project were ever transferred to someone else — in which case this page would say so first.

How long we keep things

On-device data stays in your browser until you clear it, or until the game no longer needs it. Anonymous game records are kept while they are useful for tuning the puzzles. Server logs are retained by Netlify under their own policy.

Your choices

Clearing this site's data in your browser settings erases everything the game has stored on your device, including your current round. There is nothing to delete on our side, because the records we hold were never linked to you in the first place.

Children

Trackdle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect the little information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

If what we collect changes, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
